Steve Hadfield One of the IDM albums of 2018 for me. Stands alongside folks like Skee Mask and Daniel Avery. Packed full of gorgeous analogue tones and interesting rhythms. Alone at the Beach, in particular, has a lovely sway to the music. Top, top work. Favorite track: Alone at the Beach (Post-Apocalypse Mix).

Jack D'Arcy Pretty damn close to perfect. Wonderful chiptune music with a huge emotional depth. Favorite track: Palliative Care.

at0mat0n The heavy use of the Minilogue drew me in initially, but the quality of the composition kept me coming back. Despite the limited instrumentation, I feel this album has a unique voice, enough variety, and great songwriting to carry one through the whole album easily and with pleasure, Favorite track: Weights & Dims.

about

Recorded over two weeks on a single Korg Minilogue, Colin Mawson's first venture into fully electronic territory is a masterful mixture of complex wonky rhythms, gorgeous washes of synth, and chiptune trills and beeps.
